Programme Graphics Montage
Production: Flame TV
Director: Rob Coldstream
Channel: Channel 4
Two stories about Churchill’s mother and Churchill’s Girl
‘Lady Randy: Churchill’s Mother’ included no archive to speak of, so ‘AT’ began selectively hand colouring stills and montaging these with others to create multilayered sequences which dipped in and out of the narrative. The aged, archive photos were touched up and coloured, lifting the images into a richer environment. Each photo was composed into a 3 dimensional environment to add the subtle movement and exploration of detail that panning over a photo doesn’t allow.
In addition to this, sequences were created combining VT and still images to illustrate areas of the narrative. Stylised graphics were also compiled with footage to create designs from newspaper articles to theatre posters. The project displays AT’s versatility within production and ability to utilise a wide spectrum of design.
