Discovering a hidden book collection – Layton’s Library film

We’ve produced a short taster film and rebuilt the thomaslayton.org.uk website to introduce people to the treasures collected by Thomas Layton, a Brentford Victorian collector of archeology, ethnography, books & prints. Layton left his collection for the enjoyment and education of the people of Brentford & Hounslow, and this film highlights parts of the book collection and members of the Trust inform us about the particulars which make the collection so special. Short depth of field lenses and macro photography helps communicate the textures of the page whilst additional motion graphics are sparingly used to allude to the scale of knowledge and diversity contained within the pages. Film directed by Paul Trainor & Toni Marshall.
