Digital Rostrum
We can take your archive of stills and convert them into televsion sequences via a virtual camera not dissimilar to the older technique of using a mounted rostrum camera. And like a rostrum camera setup we can quickly change the lens, the camera orientation and the trajectory and easing speed.
How to supply the images:
All the images must originate as digital files, so you can either deliver us the images by email or on disk. If the images are hard copies then we will need to scan these first. You need to give us an indication of how you want us to programme the moves and how long they will be. It is vital you tell us whether the sequences are required for an SD (standard definition) production or a HD (High Def) production. Everything must be rendered in the end so it helps to keep the moves as short as possible and to have quite short handles – we normally add 2 seconds either side. If you need more you are better doing this in the edit rather than incurring extra render time and file size for what is effectively a freeze.
What we can do:
As these sequences are all digital this means you can do almost anything including retouching, cloning areas, colourising and adding graphic elements. We can completely change these 2 dimensional images info more 3 dimensional versions of themeselves which you can see examples of in the ‘parallax technique’ above.
What you need to know:
It is vital that we receive the images in the highest resolution which also means if they are hard copies we need them as large as possible. When we take your images into our workstations they will be automatically sized to show us just how close we can zoom in while still producing an image of 1920 x 1080 pixels for HD and 1024 x 576 pixels for SD. We can try and push in a bit closer but once in any further than 15% of the full size then the image will begin to noticeably degrade.
How we deliver the completed sequences.
We normally produce a password protected webpage for the client. On here you will find compressed files of each sequence which can be downloaded of your offline and we can upload the online version to the same server so that once approved you can download the full SD or HD version. For the ubiquitous Avid suite we will upload an Avid quicktime meridian file compressed at 2:1 for SD suites and uncompressed Avid DNxHD quicktime files for HD suites.
