Tracking

Tracking Demonstration

To add graphics and visual effects it is often necessary to either plot the movement of the subject within the footage and/or to plot the movement of the camera. We use a number of methods to do this via sophisticated multipoint trackers which analyze the x, y & z position and any rotation involved. Each frame of the footage is then processed and if successful then a new object can then be added to the composition with the same tracked movements applied to it, thereby encouraging the viewer to believe the often implausible.

In the example here the motion of the polevaulter was tracked so we could apply the same movement to the motion control rig which shot the Samsung product against the blue-screen.

On Renaissance Revolution we needed to track the footage and then to seamlessly merge into the photo mapped version of the painting so that we could create a camera move which could start from the wide of the art gallery, pass the presenter and carry onwards into a 1cm squared portion of the painting.
